Out with the old and in with the NEW!

As 2011 now becomes a distant memory we approach the part of the year we are programmed to reflect. Would have, should have and could have play a big part in the reflection process and then we fill ourselves with hope and dreams that 2012 will be the year that changes the rest of our lives. The year we all try to make a difference and that only good will happen. That THIS IS IT!

If you are anything like 95% of the country you probably have a New Year’s resolution. There is something attractive about the New Year and the commitment to personal goals that we fail to feel at any other point in the year. For many it is the opportunity to change and for many it is the opportunity to be given a clean slate. A new beginning. Who can resist that?

Each year my predictable resolution has something to do with joining a gym, or giving up junk food, or changing something about myself. Since I have made that same resolution each year and realized that I will never be perfect, it is obvious that I don’t actually maintain the resolution throughout the year. Although so many start with good intentions, the majority will abandon their resolutions within a month, many even sooner, a Channel 4 study revealed.

The top ten new years resolutions in the UK 2012
1. Lose weight
2. Get fit
3. Eat more healthily
4. Save money/spend less
5. Get a new job
6. Spend more time with people who matter
7. Try new experiences
8. Get out of a rut
9. Visit a country you’ve never been to
10. Read more

While Britain has a growing reputation for being one of the world's unhealthiest nations, the resolutions seem wise. But it’s the determination and spirit for succeeding that should be the real resolution’s here, for us all to be in the middle of the year still going strong with the beliefs and hopes we started with in the New Year. If we treated everyday with the aspirations we have in January just imagine how far you will go this year!

Wish you all the luck with your resolutions, and remember if you believe you will succeed! Happy New Year!
